Best results yet in latest edition of national legal guide

29 September 2022

The 2023 edition of The Legal 500 – an independent guide to the best lawyers and firms nationwide – was published yesterday and has recognised exceptional lawyers at Willans LLP solicitors during its 75th anniversary year.

Latest results reveal 37 lawyer recommendations for the firm across 11 specialisms, including four coveted ‘leading individuals’, three ‘rising stars’ and seven new lawyer rankings. The 37 recommendations are made up of 27 individual lawyers, some of whom rank across multiple disciplines.

Corporate & commercial partner Chris Wills, employment law partner Matthew Clayton, real estate partner Nigel Whittaker and dispute resolution partner Paul Gordon have all retained their ‘leading individual’ accolades from the 2022 edition.

In the ‘rising stars’ category, real estate associate solicitor Emma Thompson, employment law partner Jenny Hawrot and dispute resolution partner Nick Southwell have yet again been recognised.

New recommendations have been made across multiple departments and include partner Rishi Ladwa and solicitors Hayley Ainsworth, Charlotte Cowdell, Kristie Silsby, Laura Stone, Rachel Sugden and Tom O’Riordan.

Our inheritance & trust disputes team – consisting of “the right people who take care of your issues professionally and courteously” – have moved up a tier in the South West’s region-wide rankings, while the employment law team have achieved top tier status for a sixth consecutive year. Our remaining specialist teams ranked are corporate & commercial, real estate, litigation & dispute resolution, agriculture & estates, charities & not-for-profit, wills, trusts & probate, family law, property litigation and intellectual property.

Reflecting on the news, Bridget Redmond, managing partner, said:

“We’re extremely proud of our lawyers outstanding achievements which are particularly exceptional for a firm of our size. The Legal 500 ranks firms and individuals completely purely on merit, and we’re delighted to see new lawyers’ names in the line-up and to continue to be recognised as one of the best in the region.”

The Legal 500 is published annually and compiles the rankings based on its researchers’ findings who review our achievements and interview our clients and peers to evaluate our service and where we fit in the region. Read the results at www.legal500.com.
