I am a partner with extensive experience in development land, and together with Adam Hale, we lead the strategic land and development team here at Willans.

We have a wealth of experience in advising developers and landowners on the whole development cycle from acquisition and site assembly, planning, development and eventual disposal.

I enjoy being involved in complex transactions and can offer pragmatic and commercial advice throughout the process, calling upon many years of experience and “insider” knowledge of the development industry to achieve the outcome that you are looking for.

I work with developers, promoters and landowners across numerous sectors such as residential, retirement villages, renewable projects and commercial development.

Experience highlights

My experience includes:

  • advising a local family on a strategy to promote their landholding through the planning system ending in a successful sale to a national housebuilder.
  • acting for a housebuilder company from start-up to emerging as a large regional housebuilder with an extensive pipeline of consented sites of around 70-120 dwellings per site.
  • acting for a nationally recognised retirement village developer and operator on their existing property portfolio and new site acquisitions.
  • the regeneration of a circa 65 acre site at Dursley, Gloucestershire now known as Littlecombe. I advised on the joint venture agreement between the landowner (Lister Petter) and the South West Regional Development Agency and many of the subsequent land sale agreements as development phases were disposed of.
  • disposal of a 40 acre former factory site with planning permission for residential development to a major national housebuilder.
  • the forward sale, pre-let and development finance arrangements of a 160,000 square foot mixed-use development in Bristol with a GDV of circa £65 million.
