Three-season partnership with Gloucester Rugby announced

10 December 2024

We’re excited to announce our official partnership with Gloucester Rugby, which has been confirmed for the next three seasons. The partnership will include providing legal advice on commercial matters such as employment, real estate and corporate affairs.

Willans is also sponsoring the Gloucester Rugby Business Club, a forum for likeminded business owners and leaders to connect.

As Cheltenham solicitors, we have been part of the Gloucestershire community for over 75 years and support countless businesses, charities, sporting and cultural initiatives across the county, including Cheltenham Festivals, the Cotswold Way Association, Cheltenham Rugby Club and Old Patesians Rugby Club.

Speaking about the announcement, Willans’ senior partner in litigation & dispute resolution, and life-long Gloucester Rugby fan, Paul Gordon said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Gloucester Rugby and to offer our support and services to its fans, players and wider club members.

“As our firm has been growing over the last 10 years, and with our roots firmly cemented in Gloucestershire’s business community, now is the perfect time to align ourselves with the county’s most well-established sporting organisation. We look forward to cheering on the team over the next few seasons.”

Many of Willans’ lawyers are recommended year-on-year by national guides Chambers UK and The Legal 500 and work with clients based locally, nationally and overseas. Our team features corporate and commercial partner, Chris Wills, who has over 15 years of experience as a corporate solicitor, working with a range of businesses, from multi-million-pound companies to start-ups and owner-managed businesses.

Alex Brown, CEO of Gloucester Rugby, said: “It’s a pleasure to welcome another thriving local business to the Gloucester Rugby family.

“Willans LLP solicitors have a huge presence in the Gloucestershire community, and in the sporting circle, so we’re delighted to partner with them and work together for at least the next three years.”

This partnership is announced at a key time for the firm as our employment law & business immigration team has recently launched a new service arm, offering HR support to businesses of all sizes both locally and nationally.

About Gloucester Rugby Club

Gloucester Rugby is one of the oldest and most iconic English rugby clubs, with a rich history dating back to 1873. Known as the “Cherry and Whites” for their distinctive colours, the team plays at Kingsholm Stadium, situated in the heart of the city of Gloucester. The team competes in both the Gallagher Premiership and the EPCR Challenge Cup, making it one of the top clubs in the sport.

Gloucester Rugby is also known for its commitment to the development and support of the game at all levels, including the women’s game. The 2022/23 season marked a significant milestone for the club as the men’s and women’s team both wore the same shirt for the first time, following Gloucester Rugby’s commitment to the Gloucester-Hartpury Women’s team.

Kingsholm Stadium is a unique conference venue, with a variety of different sized conference, meeting and training rooms that overlook the stadium’s pitch. This makes it perfect for businesses looking for an impressive and unique location to host work parties, end of year balls, and even weddings.

Gloucester Rugby is more than just a rugby team, they are a part of the city’s heritage and culture. With its rich history, exciting games, and diverse range of events and activities, it’s no wonder that the team and the stadium are so beloved by the people of Gloucester and beyond.
