More than 200 people from county businesses tested their wits at our charity quiz last night.
We welcomed 49 teams of four from businesses including Barclays, Brewin Dolphin, The Growth Hub, Randall & Payne, Wynne Jones IP, Crowe Clark Whitehill, Investec, The Cotswold Auction Company, Evans Jones, Perry Bishop & Chambers, X-Press Legal Services and Gardner Brown to the evening at Manor by the Lake.
The successful quiz night raised a record £4,866 for our firm’s charity of the year, LINC, a local charity which supports people from Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and South Worcestershire who need intensive chemotherapy for leukaemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers.
James Grigg, partner and quiz master of Willans LLP solicitors, said:
“We are so pleased to attract such a large following since it began four years ago. Manor by the Lake was bursting at the seams and the atmosphere was great. Thank you to everyone who supported the event and more importantly, LINC. This was our last major fundraising event for LINC as next month marks a year to the date we started our journey with them to help raise funds to put towards the refurbishment of their ward ensuite rooms.”
Karen Organ of LINC said:
“LINC has really enjoyed working alongside Willans as their charity. The year has been completely amazing and to finish with such a successful quiz evening has been the icing on the cake. It was a sold out event that was supported by local businesses and such an enjoyable evening. The partners and staff have been supportive and enthusiastic in raising funds for us, the quiz night generated a huge amount combined with the money raised from the rest of the year, we are sincerely appreciative of Willans’ hard work and dedication to raise so much.”
The trophy was retained for a third consecutive year by Cambray Property Management, Warwick Butchart Associates was in second place and Read Maurice came third.
Lisa Farmer from Cambray Property Management commented:
“A huge thank you for a fantastic evening last night. As last year, the quiz itself was brilliantly done and the amount of support you received (both in numbers taking part, and also the staggering amount of money raised) was truly awe-inspiring … massive congratulations to all involved.”
Auctioneer Simon Chorley from Chorley’s helped Willans raise around £1,450 towards the evening’s figure through its charity auction which included donations from local businesses.
