Vacancy
Wills, trusts & probate lawyer vacancy – 5 years PQE
This position has closed
Due to expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for an additional chartered legal executive or solicitor to join our wills, trusts & probate team.
Why join us?
Willans is a full-service law firm noted for giving expert, practical and personal service to local, national and international clients. Our offices are in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and we employ around 100 people.
Our “professional, efficient and friendly” wills, probate & trusts department is recommended by both legal guides, Chambers UK and the Legal 500, which are based purely on merit.
The team helps people at many different stages of life, from first-time home buyers and couples starting a family to retired people, entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium-sized businesses, in many cases acting for second and even third generations. We are also regularly instructed by larger accountancy firms and IFAs to assist in connection with trusts, wills and probate matters.
The role
This chartered legal executive or solicitor vacancy is an ideal opportunity for someone who has been working as a fully qualified lawyer for at least 5 years in a private client team and is looking for the next step in their career.
The successful candidate’s role will involve a range of private client work to include:
- advising on and preparing simple and complex wills,
- advising and drafting lasting powers of attorney,
- carrying out trust administration and drafting trust documents,
- obtaining grants of representation,
- estate planning
You will work in a sub-team within the wider private client department alongside a senior associate, an associate, a chartered legal executive and a paralegal. Remote working/hybrid working may be considered following a successful probationary period.
You will also be involved in departmental marketing initiatives which may include writing newsletters, attending networking events and preparing and delivering workshops/seminars.
You will have a professional manner, be highly efficient and approachable, demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude and enjoy acting for a wide range of individuals, particularly the elderly.
You must have a full, clean driving licence as you may need to visit clients from time-to-time.
The successful candidate will hopefully be STEP qualified or working towards gaining full TEP status. Support and funding towards the qualification may be offered by Willans. Other memberships such as SFE, would be an advantage.
As well as a competitive salary, we offer a pension scheme and excellent working conditions. We have pleasant Regency style offices overlooking one of Cheltenham’s parks.
