Appointing an executor, trustee, deputy or attorney with Willans Trust Corporation

14 November 2025

Whether you’re looking to create a will, set up a trust or get your business affairs in order, appointing a professional to act as an executor, trustee, deputy or attorney can often be a more suitable alternative to a friend or family member.

We are excited to introduce the Willans Trust Corporation Limited (‘WTCL’) as a company authorised to act as an executor, trustee, deputy or attorney for our clients.

What are the benefits of appointing Willans Trust Corporation to act as executor, trustee, deputy or attorney?

Less pressure for your family or friends

Acting as an executor, trustee, attorney or deputy involves a high level of responsibility and pressure. For many clients, appointing trusted professionals to act is a weight off their mind and a way of ensuring that, often during difficult circumstances, family members can focus on grieving or coping with the difficult position they find themselves in without the added burden of complying with legal duties.

Objectivity

Each family has a unique dynamic and there may be family tensions. WTCL acts as an impartial party appointed to follow your wishes as best as possible.

Legal Knowledge

The directors of WTCL are experienced professionals who understand the complex world of estate and trust administration as well as acting as an attorney or deputy. We will ensure the job is done properly.

Continuity

If an executor, attorney or trustee loses capacity or dies, there may be a time delay in appointing another person to act.

For clients with business interests, the WTCL can continue to act for you even if one of the directors were to lose mental capacity or die as the other directors will continue acting without delay. This saves time and the cost of appointing another person to the role.

Less Paperwork

When there is a change of trustee, this can often lead to updating the Land Registry, updating a trust bank account update, amending the information held by the Trust Registration Service and changing financial paperwork. This does not happen with WTCL as the other directors would continue acting as usual if, for example, one of the directors were to retire professionally.
