Willans named official legal partner of Cheltenham Festivals
Willans has strengthened its long-standing relationship with Cheltenham Festivals by becoming its official legal partner. The appointment builds on more than 20 years of working together, during which our firm has provided tailored legal advice to support the charity as it has grown into one of the UK’s leading cultural organisations.
Cheltenham Festivals delivers world-class jazz, literature, music and science festivals, attracting more than 225,000 visitors each year. Alongside its flagship events, the charity delivers an extensive programme of year-round learning, participation activities and community outreach. Together, its activities generate more than £5.2 million for the local economy while making arts and culture accessible to everyone.
Willans has been part of the Gloucestershire business community for almost 80 years, and our charity law specialists advise charities and not-for-profit organisations based both locally and nationally. As its official legal partner, our firm will continue to provide Cheltenham Festivals with legal expertise across a range of areas, supporting the charity as it delivers its ambitious five-year strategy and expands its impact.
Julia Caskey, director of finance at Cheltenham Festivals (pictured above with co-CEO Ian George), said: “For over 20 years, Willans’ professionalism, advice and understanding of our organisation have made them a trusted and valued legal adviser. Their support has helped us confidently navigate complex challenges, allowing us to focus on delivering world-class cultural events. We’re delighted to welcome them as our official legal partner and look forward to the next chapter in our relationship.”
Willans’ managing partner Bridget Redmond said: “Becoming Cheltenham Festivals’ official legal partner is a natural progression in a relationship built on trust, shared values and a commitment to the local community.”
“As the charity continues to grow, we’re delighted to play an even greater role in supporting its ambitions, providing the legal foundations that allow it to deliver world-class festivals and inspire audiences and communities across the county and beyond. We’re proud to continue working with one of Gloucestershire’s most important cultural organisations.”
The Times and Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival takes place from 9 – 18 October 2026. Willans’ partners Laura Stone and Claire Cox will be hosting a free Huddle event at the Cheltenham Literature Festival called ‘Inheritance Wars: How to Avoid a Family Feud’.
