Two-year partnership with Maggie’s in Cheltenham confirmed

We’re delighted to announce that Willans has established a two-year charity partnership with Maggie’s in Cheltenham to raise money for its support services for local people affected by cancer.

Our firm has a long-standing relationship with Maggie’s in Cheltenham, having fundraised for them in previous years. We have a strong commitment to supporting charities and the local community and since 2012, have raised over £120,000 for the likes of Cheltenham Open Door, Young Gloucestershire, Sue Ryder, National Star College and Cheltenham Animal Shelter.

Maggie’s centre in Cheltenham supports people with all types of cancer and those who love them, offering emotional, psychological, and practical support. Maggie’s offers a safe space to meet and talk to people who are going through the same things, through a variety of workshops, courses, one-to-one guidance and group support.

To raise funds for Maggie’s, Willans’ charity committee will organise a number of events and initiatives throughout the year, including its annual Christmas carol concert. Employees will also be encouraged to volunteer at Maggie’s centre in Cheltenham during the two-year partnership.

Emma Thompson, co-chair of Willans’ charity committee and a partner in the firm’s real estate team, said: “As a local business, it is a privilege to support Maggie’s and the important work it does for people affected by cancer. Many of our colleagues have seen the difference its services can make to individuals and families during an extremely difficult time. We look forward to working closely with the team at Maggie’s, raising vital funds and giving our employees opportunities to volunteer throughout the partnership.”

Sara Nunn, fundraiser at Maggie’s in Cheltenham, said: “We’re delighted that Willans has chosen us as their charity partner. Maggie’s relies on the generosity and support from our community, and partnerships like this make a real difference in ensuring the care we provide can continue. We’re really looking forward to working with the charity committee on the events and activities they have planned over the coming months and beyond.”

About Maggie’s in Cheltenham

Maggie’s is a different kind of cancer care: Bright and welcoming spaces, help with money worries and managing stress, and a friendly place to go when you need someone to listen. We provide free, expert support to everyone with cancer and all the people who love them.

We know that environments can have a transformational effect on people living with cancer. This is why we design our bright and welcoming spaces as an antidote to the institutionalised care most people experience. And whilst the idea begins with that, it doesn’t end with it.

What makes the difference is the expertise, support and care people can find when they step inside any of our Maggie’s centres. It’s always free and you don’t need an appointment – just come in.
