Hundreds attend our carol concert to raise funds for Gloucestershire’s unpaid carers

11 December 2018

On Wednesday 5 December, we welcomed over 200 guests for a fundraising carol concert in aid of our chosen charity of the year, Carers Gloucestershire.

The concert, which was held at Cheltenham College chapel, was attended by clients, friends and supporters of both the firm and the charity.

Partner Nigel Whittaker, opened the evening before guests joined local choir, Severn’s Eight, for a mixture of classic Christmas carols. Seasonal poems were read by some of our lawyers, and guests enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies in the college dining hall after the service.

Tim Poole, CEO of Carers Gloucestershire, commented: “We are very grateful to Willans for putting on a wonderful carol concert which as well as being hugely enjoyable, enabled us to highlight the issues faced by unpaid family carers in the county and raise much-needed funds.”

“We look forward to the ongoing partnership with Willans in 2019 which will help us to support more people who face the challenge of caring.”

Nick Latimer, tax partner at Crowe UK, added: “It was a fantastic evening celebrating with Willans, in aid of Carers Gloucestershire. A great start to the Christmas period.”

Bridget Redmond, Willans’ managing partner, commented: “The evening raised more than £1,400 for Carers Gloucestershire – a result that we’re delighted with. Cheltenham College chapel provided the perfect setting for us to get together with clients, friends of the firm and supporters of Carers Gloucestershire.

“Thank you to all who attended, to the choir – Severn’s Eight (which includes one of our very own lawyers!), and to Cotswold Life – our media partner for the evening. It was a most enjoyable way to kick off the festive season”.

Carers Gloucestershire, a local charity that has been supporting unpaid carers for over 25 years, offers services and support for carers including advice and guidance, positive caring courses, carer-to-carer support, counselling, support groups and day trips for carers.

At Willans, we have raised around £90,000 over the past six years which has been put toward all sorts of charitable projects throughout Gloucestershire. Our team of around 80 staff undertake a yearly calendar full of fundraising activities, ranging from large social events to baking competitions and sporting challenges.
