Supporters attend festive carol concert in aid of Young Gloucestershire

16 December 2022

On Wednesday 14 December, we welcomed guests from across the county and beyond for a fundraising carol concert in aid of our chosen charity of the year, Young Gloucestershire.

For the first time in three years, the concert – which was held at St. Luke’s Church in Cheltenham – took place and was attended by clients, friends and supporters of both the firm and the charity despite the wintry conditions.

Partner Jenny Hawrot opened the evening before guests joined local choir, Severn’s Eight, for a range of classic Christmas carols. Seasonal poems were read by some of our lawyers, and guests enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies after the service.

A selection of prizes were also kindly donated by 16 different businesses, contributing to an exciting raffle that saw all of its proceeds go to charity.

Young Gloucestershire said: “We are so grateful that Willans are supporting us this year. For so many of our young people it’s a challenging time, so fundraising and events like this enable us to continue providing one-to-one mental health support to those who are struggling.

“Without Willans and the local community, we wouldn’t be able to do this – and what a fun way to celebrate with some Christmas cheer!”

Bridget Redmond, Willans’ managing partner, commented: “The evening helped raise much needed funds for a worthy cause and St. Luke’s Church provided the perfect setting for us to get together with clients, friends of the firm and supporters of Young Gloucestershire.

“Thank you to all who attended, to the choir – Severn’s Eight (which includes one of our very own lawyers!), and to all the businesses who supported us by donating gifts for the prize draw. It was a most enjoyable way to kick off the festive season.”

Young Gloucestershire have been supporting young people for 33 years, offering practical ways for those across the county to find confidence and develop the skills they need to improve their lives.

At Willans, we have raised more than £114,000 over the last ten years which has been put toward all sorts of charitable projects throughout Gloucestershire. Our team of around 100 staff undertake a yearly calendar full of fundraising activities, ranging from large social events to baking competitions and sporting challenges.
