History repeats itself as we re-ignite our partnership with Winston’s Wish

29 September 2017

Sixteen years ago, a group of our lawyers emptied their pockets and dusted off their walking boots in aid of Winston’s Wish to climb the highest mountains of England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours.

This year, we’ve linked up again with Winston’s Wish as our charity of the year, and are busy planning quizzes, raffles, concerts and sporting competitions to raise money for the Cheltenham-headquartered charity.

To kick-start our fundraising year we held a ‘Wear W Day’ earlier this month, and also received a special visit from charity representatives and mascot ‘Winston Bear’.

Elizabeth Tomala, of Winston’s Wish, said: “We really cannot thank the team at Willans enough for their support both now and sixteen years ago. We know the impact bereavement can have on children and young people, but with the right support at the right time they can lead full and flourishing lives. The support from Willans allows us to continue to support more of the families who need us.”

We have raised around £80,000 over the past five years which has been put toward all sorts of charitable projects throughout Gloucestershire.

James Grigg, partner and head of our charity committee, said: “We are delighted to name Winston’s Wish as our new charity, and we look forward to increasing the sum we raised for them in 2001. The support they provide children locally and across the country has touched the hearts of many of us. It is a privilege to once again be working with them, particularly as it’s our platinum anniversary.”

Keep an eye on our news page to hear of further plans for fundraisers.
