Free will writing service to residents aged 55 and over

23 September 2015

During National Air Ambulance Week we are, in partnership with Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, appealing to Gloucestershire residents to take advantage of the charity’s free will writing service, for those aged 55 and over.

Miranda Hawkes of Willans’ wills, probate & trusts department, who is helping the charity with the free will initiative said:

“Making a will means that your partner and any children are provided for and shouldn’t find themselves dependent on others. Most people believe their home and possessions will automatically pass to their immediate family when they die. Sadly, without a will, there’s no guarantee this will be the case. Time and time again, we find people often forget to update their will when their circumstances change.”

Jason Levy, fundraising and marketing director for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity adds:

“Making or updating a will can be a daunting prospect, which is why we are working with Willans to offer the residents of Gloucestershire this professional service for free. The five other counties we cover have seen a lot of interest and we want to encourage the residents of Gloucestershire to follow suit and ensure that their loved ones are looked after and to help save lives in their local community.”

In the last 12 months Midlands Air Ambulance has attended 61 incidents in Gloucestershire; that’s ten per cent of its total missions with the most common for the region being sport and leisure incidents. Each mission costs £2,500 and with no government or National Lottery funding, four in ten missions are funded by gifts people leave in their wills.
