Will week raises funds for National Star

30 January 2015

We are delighted with the success of the ‘Make-a-will-week’ that we recently ran in association with, and in support of National Star, our charity of the year.

The week was booked out with appointments well in advance and over the five days our wills, probate & trusts department raised £875. We waived our usual fee for our services, instead inviting participants to make a donation to National Star.

“The response has been fantastic”, said David Ellis, Chief Executive of National Star. “We are pleased that it prompted so many people to take this essential step and by doing so help us empower the lives of young people.”

“The life-changing opportunities and specialist facilities that National Star provides are only made possible through voluntary contributions and we are grateful to businesses like Willans who help us.”

Simon Cook, partner in our wills, probate & trusts team said: “Writing a will is so important. If you don’t have one when you die, your money, property and possessions will be shared out according to the law instead of your wishes. This can mean they pass to someone you hadn’t intended – or that someone you hoped to pass things on to ends up with nothing.”

“The week has enabled us to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause in the local community whilst also giving people peace of mind knowing their affairs are in order.”

Willans has chosen National Star as its charity of the year and hopes to raise £10,000 for the support of young people with learning difficulties and disabilities.
