The Cheltenham Awards: Celebrating our town’s businesses and individuals

18 September 2018

On Monday 10 September, we were delighted to attend the first-ever Cheltenham Awards at the Town Hall, a stone’s throw away from our offices on Imperial Square.

The Cheltenham Awards was created to reward and acknowledge the exceptional people and businesses across all sectors who contribute to Cheltenham’s outstanding reputation.

One of the leading Cheltenham law firms, established in 1947, Willans was pleased to sponsor the Family Business category. Our managing partner, Bridget Redmond, presented the award to the category winner on the night – Cleevely Motors, a garage which has been serving the local community for more than 50 years.

Paul Symes-Thompson, head of our corporate & commercial team, commented; “We are pleased to be supporting an award that recognises family businesses as vital ingredients in Cheltenham’s thriving businesses community.

“We have been advising family business owners for generations, so we’ve seen first-hand the talent, innovation and hard work involved in their day-to-day operation. Despite the many hurdles they are faced with, family businesses generate nearly half of the UK’s private sector jobs. They are critical to the economic health of our town – and their success is truly something to be proud of.”
