Supporting younger talent

15 September 2016

Pate’s Grammar School has launched a new house ready for the start of the school year with a little help from us.

Pembroke House will join the school’s four other houses, Beaufort, Gloucester, Richmond and York, to accommodate Pate’s growing school community.

Bridget Redmond, managing partner of Willans, said: “We are delighted to support both Pate’s and Pembroke House. While we have been involved in many community projects in the county over the years, we have a strong connection to Pate’s in particular. A number of our lawyers are former pupils or are parents of current or former students of the school, so it was lovely to meet the first intake of Pembroke House.”

Shirley Park from the development office at Pate’s said: “We would very much like to thank Willans who are the sponsors for Pembroke this academic year. With the increasing pressure of cuts within educational funding, having financial support from local business means we’re able to continue with our full programme of house activities, giving students all the opportunities they deserve.”

Edward Derbyshire, head of drama at Pate’s, has taken on the role of head of Pembroke House. He added:

“It is very exciting not only to be able to build a new house at Pate’s, following in the long tradition of the important house system, but also to create something new, both for the students already at the school, and for those who have just started with us.”
