Staff effort rewarded by Local Business Charity Awards
We were delighted to have been nominated for a third year as finalists in this year’s Local Business Charity Awards.
The awards recognise the contribution made by Gloucestershire businesses and their staff to local charities.
We were nominated by Cheltenham charity LINC, for our fundraising efforts over the past twelve months. Our staff raised over £11,000 for them during our 2015-2016 financial year; which has been used to support local people and their families affected by leukaemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers.
We did this through a carol concert, a business quiz evening for 200 people, a pool competition, cake bake-offs and staff taking on sporting challenges such as Tough Mudder and Ride London.
James Grigg, partner and head of our charity committee, said he is proud of the efforts of everyone in the firm and the amount they raised for LINC.
“All of us at Willans have worked hard to fundraise for such a worthy cause but we’ve enjoyed every minute of it. Being a finalist for these awards is an honour considering the much larger companies we’re up against. If we win the £1,000 prize will be donated to LINC.”
The awards were established in 2014 to recognise the help and support given by Gloucestershire businesses to Gloucestershire charities. The final will take place on Thursday 17 November at The Star Bistro, National Star College, Ullenwood, Cheltenham. Other finalists in our category this year include insurance companies Ecclesiastical and Endsleigh.
