Senior appointment to our wills, probate & trusts team

01 July 2014

We have recruited a new member to our private client team.

Simon Cook has joined as a partner of our wills, probate & trusts department. He has a wealth of experience in dealing with private client work, including trusts, wills, powers of attorney, the Court of Protection and estate planning and administration. He was previously a partner at another county law firm, where he spent 23 years, more recently heading up their Cheltenham office.

Simon has longstanding connections with Cheltenham, where he grew up and attended Cheltenham Grammar School (now Pate’s Grammar School), and now sits on the board of The Pate’s Society (the society for former pupils of the school).

He is a member of the highly regarded Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP) and the Law Society Private Client Section. Alongside Ruth Baker and Jennifer Emerson, this will bring the number of STEP qualified solicitors in the department to three.

Commenting on his new role, Simon Cook said:

“I am happy and excited to be joining such a well-respected firm as Willans. There is great potential in the private client department and I look forward to working with Ruth Baker to help drive the department forward, and hopefully add to the great work that is already being done there.”

Bridget Redmond, joint managing partner of Willans LLP, said:

“We are delighted that Simon is joining us. Wills, probate and trusts is a highly technical area of law, and to have Simon and Ruth in the same team gives us real strength in this area. I am thrilled that as the firm gradually expands, we continue to attract lawyers of the highest calibre to join our fantastic team here at Willans.”
