“Technically excellent” Ruth earns recognition in national high-net-worth guide
An international guide aimed at high-net-worth individuals has recognised Ruth Baker, partner in our wills, probate & trusts department, for her exceptional work in private wealth law.
The Chambers High Net Worth guide has been introduced this year by Chambers and Partners, an internationally-respected organisation which ranks lawyers and law firms across the globe. While the traditional Chambers directories are aimed at the corporate market, the new guide has been created to provide “objective guidance” on the leading lawyers in the private wealth market worldwide. It does not just rank lawyers - it encompasses a wide range of advisors to high-net-worth individuals, from accountancy firms to wealth management.
In the guide, Ruth is described by one interviewee as “very empathetic in her style and approach, and technically very robust”. They added that she “listened to our requirements and requests and delivered, with ease and clarity, the advice we strived for." She is ranked as an “up-and-coming” individual; an accolade which Chambers says is for those “at the forefront of their generation”.
Ruth, who became a partner at Willans in 2016, advises on all aspects of lifetime estate planning, including the preparation of wills, inheritance tax and the creation of trusts. She also advises on powers of attorney and Court of Protection matters as well as the administration of estates and trusts.
She commented: “I am delighted to be named in this prestigious guide. Our private client team is one of the largest in the county, and we are extremely dedicated to providing the highest quality of legal advice and the highest level of customer care. It is great to receive recognition from an institution as respected as Chambers and Partners”.
As a firm, Willans has been ranked band 2 in the guide (1 is the highest) for private wealth law in the South West, Cheltenham and surrounds. The guide assesses firms and lawyers on factors such as technical expertise, client service, and commercial astuteness.
The wills, probate & trusts team advises multiple generations of business-owning and farming families on trust, estate and succession planning as well as handling the administration of estates.
A source referenced in the guide says of our lawyers that “the level of communication they have is extremely high, as is their technical knowledge." Another source said that "Willans are a firm I can trust to look after clients and provide a high-quality professional service."
