Legal rankings retained in South West

02 October 2014

We have once again retained our strong ranking across the South West region in the Legal 500 2014 directory, which published its results yesterday.

Eleven departments have held their positions for their legal specialisms and ten lawyers (eight partners and two associates), have been recognised for their particular expertise. Four partners in particular have been recommended in two categories.

An extract from the directory said “Willans LLP is praised for its ‘high level of expertise’”.

Head of company commercial department Paul Symes-Thompson was quoted as “delivers ‘methodical and understandable advice in a timely fashion’”.

Wills, probate & trusts associate solicitor Ruth Baker is applauded for her ‘depth of knowledge’, ‘clarity of explanation’ and ‘attention to detail’.

Once again, dispute resolution partner Nick Cox was praised for his ‘common-sense approach, high knowledge levels and excellent overall service’ and ‘offers sound creative solutions to complex challenges’ to litigation clients.

Commercial property practice head Nigel Whittaker ‘adds quality and perception to transactions’.

The ‘knowledgeable’ and ‘pragmatic’ Frank Smith, head of our agriculture & estates team, was acknowledged for his work in the acquisition and sale of a wide range of rural properties.

Bridget Redmond, managing partner of the firm, reflected on the news:

“We are delighted to retain our strong position in the South West. The Legal 500 is an independent guide, and firms and individuals are recommended purely on merit.”
