Gloucester Cathedral will week

05 October 2015

From Monday 12 October – Friday 23 October, we are supporting Gloucester Cathedral with its ‘Make a will fortnight’ to encourage people to make a basic will or update an existing one.

We are long-time supporters of the Cathedral and during its ‘Make a will fortnight’, we are waiving our usual fee for making a basic* will, and instead invite those taking part to consider making a donation to support the Cathedral.

Our Legal 500-rated wills, probate & trusts department act for generations of families. Our six-strong team of experienced lawyers handle all aspects of wills, trusts and inheritance tax planning for clients at many different stages of life.

Associate solicitor Ruth Baker, a senior member of the team who is leading the Gloucester Cathedral ‘Make a will fortnight’ campaign, is a member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), experts who are, by definition, the most experienced and senior practitioners in the field of trusts and estates. She is also a part of the Law Society Private Client Section and an associate member of Solicitors for the Elderly.

She said she is delighted to once again be supporting the Cathedral in its fundraising initiative and she urges people to contact her to make, or update, a will.

Your will tells everyone what should happen to your money, possessions and property after you die, and if you do not have one, these decisions will be left to the court to decide – who it may be passed on to may not be in line with your wishes.

“It’s easy and stress-free to make or update a will through us, and by doing so, you’ll be supporting the upkeep of one of the most iconic buildings in Gloucestershire.”

The Very Reverend Stephen Lake, Dean of Gloucester said:

“Everyone should have an up-to-date will as it ensures that their nearest and dearest will be provided for after they have passed on. We are very grateful to Willans for their support and in turn the support from those who make or update their wills during the scheme.”
