Supporting the next generation of lawyers

19 April 2017

We have formed a partnership with the University of Gloucestershire and have pledged our support to its law school by helping to mentor and coach the next generation of lawyers.

Activities planned include legal master classes and Your Future Plan legal career talks. There is also a new award at the university, the Willans award for the best intellectual property student.

Lawyers with corporate & commercial, employment and litigation experience met with some of the students involved in the university’s law clinic earlier this month to talk about their career paths, a typical day at the office, handling caseloads and advising clients.

Commenting on our firm’s involvement with the university, our managing partner, Bridget Redmond, said:

“We are excited to partner with the university in our 70th year and to be supporting the next generation of aspiring lawyers. We hope that by working with the university we will give students a flavour of what a career in law is really like.”

Dr Tracy Jones, head of the law school at the University of Gloucestershire, added:

“This partnership with Willans will offer our law degree students invaluable practical experience through engagement with industry.

“The university is one of few in the country which strives to offer students opportunities to learn through practical and not just academic experience. We are grateful to Willans for their support.”
