Biking took a bit of a back seat while my kids were little, but about 15 years ago, I became a ‘born again’ and now use the bike as often as my car. I use the bike for commuting to work as well as for fun. The 2008 Scotland tour, which included ferry trips to the Orkneys, racked up about 2,000 miles – and was glorious!
The green badge
In my line of work, I suppose it’s not surprising that I am a keen advocate of road safety. I passed my Institute of Advanced Motorists’ test in 1988 and have always intended to add the green badge. In preparation, I’ve been on a few road safety days/observed rides with the police but so far, that’s as far as it’s gone – other things get in the way.
